How SafeKlinic® works

Effectiveness and precision of BICARmed® treatment is due to the combination of two forces: emollient and mechanical action of SafeKlinic® sodium bicarbonate.

Compressed air supplies the kinetic energy to the solid sodium bicarbonate particles that mechanically act on the surface of the instrument.

Bicarbonate disintegrates on impact without modifying the instrument surface in any way and thanks to the water presence it operates an emollient “chemical” action that allows you to maximize detersion with cold water without using dangerous chemicals.

Special grain size of SafeKlinic® bicarbonate, specifically studied to reduce dustiness at minimum, allows treating cavities less than 100 µ with great efficiency and precision. It also allows you to flush all cannulated instruments maintaining their patency and thus avoiding the risk of obstruction.

Not abrasive

As shown by the study of the Metallurgy Department of Trento University, the sodium bicarbonate granules are destroyed by impact with the surface by absorbing all the kinetic energy without altering or damaging the treated surface.

Traditional cleaning methods

Manual pre-washing
Traditional methods limits:
  • Brushes for cannulated products must have the right diameter to be used and are often not effective for cannulated products.

  • Brushings are hard to apply in more complex instruments and in smaller holes where for bristles is harder to reach surfaces uniformly and they risk over time to abrade the surface

  • Chemical products have good efficacy but lack the mechanical action necessary to remove the most adhering contaminants. Their aeresols are dangerous for the operator and chemistry is potentially harmful to the instrument.

  • Vapour is able to dissolve the dirt but is inclined to make it adhering.

  • Abrasive pastes are used only for certain types of dirt and on restricted surfaces.

  • Ultrasounds are not effective on some combinations of RMDs shapes and contaminates.

BICARmed® cleaning methods

With SAFEKlinic®
Advantages of the method BICARmed®
  • BICARmed® treatment accuracy derives from the constant and continuous action of the sodium bicarbonate: projected on the surface, bicarbonate is capable to hit the same point repeatedly and continuously over and over again. This action makes the BICARmed® process comparable to a highly efficient mechanical brushing.

  • Simulations show that one second of treatment with the BICARmed® process is equivalent to 40 seconds of manual brushing. Added to this, is the advantage of being able to treat and remove any type of contaminant from any type of reusable surgical instrument.

  • Furthermore, the special granulometry of SafeKlinic® bicarbonate, specifically studied to reduce dustiness to a minimum, allows to treat cavities less than 100 µ with great effectiveness and accuracy and to flush all cannulated instruments maintaining their patency and thus avoiding the risk of obstruction
